The fourth-generation theory of education evaluation was introduced to China in the 1990s.Over more than 20 years of practice,the fourth-generation evaluation theory has experienced two stages of introducing and preliminary exploring,in-depth exploring and applying since it has transformed into Chinese characteristics.Then it is developed with different characteristics and influences at different stages.Through the efforts of educational evaluation theorists and practitioners in China,the Chinese characteristic of the fourth-generation evaluation theory has accumulated a lot of valuable experience and provide a reference for the Chinese characteristic of other educational evaluation theories.At the beginning of introducing,the fourth-generation evaluation is mainly translated and introduced related foreign theories as the basic theory.After the fourth-generation evaluation theory is widely spread,China sets off practical exploration of education evaluation in a wide range.In addition,China's educational evaluation theorists combined the fourth-generation education evaluation theory with China's education evaluation practice,and they created the fourth-generation evaluation theory with Chinese characteristics.With the enlightenment of the fourth-generation evaluation theory,China's education evaluation subjects,evaluation methods,evaluation standards and evaluation functions have undergone great changes.The reason why the fourth generation of evaluation theory has been disseminated and transformed in China includes traditional examination culture,traditional teaching mode and the lack of constructive evaluation knowledge and experience of teachers.These factors promote or hinder the process of the fourth generation evaluation theory in China.The study of the fourth-generation evaluation theory in China has brought us many enlightenments,in the Chinese characteristic process,it is necessary to strengthen the theoretical study,closely combine the reality of Chinese education evaluation,and gradually build an educational evaluation with Chinese characteristics.It is also significant for us to hold the vision of globalization,learn and absorb excellent theories from foreign education evaluation.
