Reading is a kind of complex cognitive activity from which human beings could obtain meaning from information and symbols,and it is an important method for human beings to gain information.Extracurricular reading is an essential learning activity for primary school students and a significant way for pupils to acquire extra-curricular knowledge.Extracurricular reading will play an irreplaceable role in primary school students' daily life.Extracurricular reading can help pupils form good moral character,acquire knowledge about science and culture,improve Chinese literacy level,and promote the well-rounded development of intelligence and healthy.?The Chinese Curriculum Standard for compulsory Education? also puts forward requirements for primary school students' reading ability,which is aimed at cultivating and improving the reading ability of primary school students.As an important part of Chinese teaching,people from education bureau and society pay more attention to extra-curricular reading.Due to the influences of economy,region,school and family,there are differences between rural pupils and urban pupils about extracurricular reading level.The differences exist from the basic attitude towards extracurricular reading to the content and quantity of reading,from reading habits to reading methods,from the reading circumstance to teachers' instruction.With the advocating of education fairness,the differences in extracurricular reading between urban and rural pupils play a negative role in the realization of educational equity.Therefore,this study made Kunming Lianhua primary school located in urban area and Jincheng No.5 primary school located in rural area as the investigation objects.In this survey,it laid out the differences of extracurricular reading between urban and rural pupils and put forward practical strategies and suggestions based on actual situation.This paper consists of seven parts: introduction,the main account of the reasons for the topic,the definition of relevant concepts,domestic research review and research methods.The first chapter is aboutinvestigation of primary school students in urban and rural areas,analysis of the collected data,and summed up the differences.The second chapter is to investigate the influence of urban and rural school teachers on primary school students' extracurricular reading guidance.The third chapter investigates the support of parents to primary school students' extracurricular reading activities in urban and rural areas.The fourth The chapter is an analysis of the differences in extracurricular reading between urban and rural pupils.It was discussed from four aspects: social environment,school teachers' view,family and pupils' themselves.In the fifth chapter,strategies and suggestions are put forward in view of the problems of extracurricular reading among rural pupils,the improvement of extracurricular reading for rural primary school students,and promotion of their extra-curricular reading ability.Conclusion,is based on the survey and analysis of the relevant summary and thinking of this article.
