From the beginning of the Reform and Opening up,China's economy has been developed rapidly, and in less than 40 years,it has become the second largest economic power around the world.Among the factors influence the economy,“consumption”,as one of the “Troikas” driving economic development,is a key factor in maintaining sustained and healthy development of economy and society,it is also an important guarantee for high-quality and high-benefit economy to get sustained development.According the data, the contribution rate of consumption to GDP has changed from the year of 2014,which has been rising year by year, prompting consumption to occupy a very important position in China's economic development. The rural consumer market is an important part of China's consumer market and has great potential for development,it can be said that further exploration of the rural consumer market is of great significance to improving the lack of domestic demand and ensuring the healthy and sustainable development of the economy. The promotion of new urbanization and the implementation of population policies have caused China's rural consumer market to face a different situation than before. The intensification of new urbanization, the rapid economic development and expansion, the shift of large numbers of rural surplus labor to cities and towns, the development of Internet finance will all affect the changes in the consumption of rural residents. In addition,be affected by family planning policies and rising living costs, the situation of aging in Chinese rural areas is becoming more and more serious. With the implementation of the new population policy, the age structure of Chinese population will also undergo new changes, the consumption of people based on different ages will show different characteristics. Therefore,in the context of the new normal economy, the in-depth promotion of new urbanization to expand domestic demand must be based on the full consideration of the demographic factors. At the same time, the influence of the study on the age structure of the population on rural residents' consumption needs to be established in rightly grasping the development of new urbanization in a scientific way. This paper, based on a review of relevant domestic and foreign consumption theories and research results, related literature of new urbanization, population age structure and rural residents' consumption.Firstly, detailed described and explained the historical development course and current situation of China's new urbanization, population age structure, and rural residents' consumption since the Reform and Opening up.Secondly, analyzed the mechanism of resident consumption from the perspective of new urbanization and population age structure. Finally, based on the mechanism analysis,an empirical model was constructed, and a dynamic panel empirical analysis of the system GMM was conducted.According to the finding, whether the development of new urbanization or the change in the age structure of the population will have a significant impact on the consumption rate of rural residents. It was thus discovered that whether it is from the overall model, the regional model,or the model of different commodities, the development of new urbanization will be found to be positively correlate with rural residents' consumption. And child dependency ratio is positively correlated with rural residents' consumption rate in all models. But,on the contrary, although the relationship between old-age dependency ratio and rural model, there are different conclusions in the regional commodity model and various types compared with overall model, that is,eastern famers' consumption rate, traffic and communications, and health care products have inconsistent results. Finally,on the basis of a comprehensive summary of the impact of new urbanization development and changes in population age structure to the rural residents' consumption rate, this paper put forward some corresponding recommendations.
